Optics for Hire built a low-cost optical inspection system using open-source computer vision software (OpenCV), an inexpensive camera, and custom dark-field illumination to detect surface scratches as small as 10 microns on polished stainless steel, demonstrating an alternative to expensive commercial inspection hardware.
